The CDP Week in Review 4/4/05 PDF Print E-mail

Interested in what is going on in your Colorado Democratic Party?  The CDP Week in Review is below.

Dems in the Press

It was another great week for Democrats in Colorado.  The theme in the press this week was that Democrats are doing things right and focusing on the issues Colorado voters care about and that the Republican Party is showing signs of weakness and heavy in-fighting.

1.  Republicans Pay the Price for Their Faux Town Hall Meeting

President Bush and other Republicans planned a faux town hall meeting in Colorado to showcase their social security privatization plan.  This event has become a disaster for the Republican Party.  The reality for Republicans is that the more they talk about their nonsense plan to privatize, the more Americans oppose the idea.

CDP Press Release: Bush Holds Town Hall Meeting but Forgets to Invite the Town

Just when the Republicans thought it could not get any worse, the media caught wind of three individuals being thrown out of the "town hall meeting" for no other reason then having bumper stickers on their car.

As though disrespecting the First Amendment is not bad enough, the Bush event was paid for by tax dollars but screened to deny access to taxpayers.  The Bush Administration and Colorado Republicans have learned a very valuable lesson, Colorado Democrats have a strong voice and if ignored it will only get louder.

2.  CDP Releases Talking Points on the Bush Budget Disaster

As part of the CDP communications strategy, bi-monthly talking points will be emailed to Democrats across the state.  The purpose of these talking points is it to inform Democrats about key issues that impact their daily lives.  The CDP wants to have a network of communication that is bigger that just the CDP office.

The talking points are designed to highlight specific issues for a variety of individuals, groups and regions of the state.  The CDP wants to hear from you.  If you have suggestions on specific issues that you would like to see the CDP address please feel free to contact Joelle Martinez at 303-623-4762.

3.  Colorado Democrats Call on Senator Allard to Keep Democracy Alive

A key element to the success of messaging is to inform fellow Democrats about actions that need to take place in order ensure the Democratic voice is being heard. For these situations the CDP will email a "Party Advisory" to Democrats.  It will further engage Democrats across the state to emphasis the strength and power of the Democratic voice in Colorado.

This week it became clear that the Republicans in the Senate were attempting to move forward their Republican judge nominees, which would give Republicans control of all branches of government.

It is the responsibility of elected officials to ensure that all of their constituents are represented in the government.  Democrats were asked to advise Senator Allard that a government for Republicans by Republicans was unacceptable.

Party Advisory: Call Senator Allard and Ask Him to Vote Against A Single Party America.
