Remembering Those Who Serve Our Country PDF Print E-mail

The Colorado Democratic Party would like to wish the people of Colorado a safe and fun Memorial Day Weekend. Many people think of Memorial Day Weekend as the beginning of summer. The Colorado Democratic Party recognizes this weekend as an important weekend to acknowledge the bravery of the men and women who served our country in past and those who continue to serve today.

Memorial Day was first recognized on May 30, 1868. It was originally called Decoration Day. Decoration Day was established to remember those who had died while serving our nation. Memorial Day continues to be a day in which the entire country recognizes the true heroes of our country, the men and women in the armed services.

The Colorado Democratic Party would like to thank all the men and women who fought to ensure the very freedoms we hold so dear to our hearts. For the men and women who are fighting overseas today, you are always in our thoughts. For all of those who have gone before us and for all of those who will continue the fight we thank you for your courage.

The CDP Wishes You
A Happy Memorial Day 2005!
