Greeley Selected for 2006 State Assembly Meeting PDF Print E-mail

Denver, CO - Today, the Colorado Democratic Party announced that the Site Selection Committee for the 2006 State Democratic Assembly has unanimously recommended that the 2006 State Assembly be held May 19-21 in Greeley, Colorado.

The Colorado Democratic Party invited counties from across the state to submit a proposal to host the 2006 State Assembly. The Weld County Democrats prepared a great proposal with the help of local citizens, the business community and the Chamber of Commerce.

"Many factors went into the site selection recommendation," said Dan Slater, Chair of the Site Selection Committee and 1st Vice Chair of the Colorado Democratic Party. "The Colorado Democratic Party recognizes that Greeley is a town that shares in the traditional values of the Democratic Party and hosting the State Assembly in Greeley will generate visibility both for the town of Greeley and for Democrats in Northern Colorado."

The site selection must be confirmed by the Colorado Democratic State Executive Committee on July 9, 2005. After confirmation of the site selection, the Colorado Democratic Party will move forward in planning the event.

"The people of Greeley are proud to host the 2006 State Assembly meeting," said Pam Shaddock, City Councilmember from Greeley. "Greeley represents hard-working folks who value their community. Hosting this event will bring exposure and business to the Greeley community."

"The Colorado Democratic Party looks forward kicking off the 2006 elections in Greeley," said Angie Paccione, State Representative, Fort Collins. "Like many towns across Colorado, Greeley will be critical for the success of the Democratic Party. By hosting the meeting in Greeley, Democrats are showing their commitment to winning elections throughout Colorado."
