Ed Perlmutter is a lifelong resident of CD 7. He graduated from Jefferson High School in Edgewater and the University of Colorado at Boulder. He earned his Juris Doctorate from CU.

Ed is a director and shareholder at the law firm of Berenbaum, Weinshienk and Eason, P.C., specializing in business reorganizations and commercial litigation. Ed has served as a member of the Board of Governors of the Colorado Bar Association and on the Board of Trustees and Judicial Performance Commission for the First Judicial District. Ed recently led two successful mill levy/bond elections for the Jeffco Public Schools. He is a Trustee for the Midwest Research Institute, and Board Member for the National Jewish Medical & Research Center.

Representing the citizens of central Jefferson County in the State Senate (from 1995 to 2003), Ed was first Democrat elected in the district in 30 years.

In 2000, Ed was part of a Democratic team which succeeded in a takeover of the State Senate for the first time since John F. Kennedy was President. Ed has assisted numerous campaigns and was a co-chair of the Kerry Campaign. Ed is married to Deana Perlmutter and has three daughters - Alexis, Abby and Zoey.
