Congressman Mark Udall's uncertainties of CAFTA

Congressman Mark Udall has many reservations regarding the specifics of CAFTA despite his encouragement in actively shaping free trade. He has decided to vote against the Dominican Republic-Central America-United States Fee Trade Agreement Implementation Act (DR-CAFTA). This is due to the inability of the current administration to implement free, and more importantly, fair trade.

Congressman John T. Salazar defends local agricultural markets

Congressman John Salazar disagrees with any notion that CAFTA would be beneficial to farmers and ranchers. His vote against the agreement takes into account key agricultural sectors that would be highly susceptible to the loss of jobs.

Chief Deputy Whip Diana DeGette wants strong enforcement mechanisms in order to maintain free trade

Congresswoman Diana DeGette has decided to oppose CAFTA, due to the lack of labor protections and environmental standards. Even though she is a staunch proponent of free and fair trade, the White House's inability to incorporate key enforcement mechanisms, which would keep trade fair has led Rep. DeGette to oppose this agreement in its current form.
