Democrats across the state agree that Beauprez is not the right choice for Governor. The people of Colorado are looking for a Governor that will be responsive to their needs and address the issues in their community. Beauprez is not the man for that job.
According to Beauprez, Republicans in Washington, DC are asking him to remain in Congress. Republicans are afraid that they will lose the CD 7 seat to Democrats in 2006. This is a reality because that district has a very strong Democratic presence. Further, Republicans in Congress do not want to loose a party loyal. Beauprez votes nearly 100% with the Republican party, more than any other Republican from Colorado.
“We have strong candidates for both the Governor’s seat and the 7th Congressional seat. Beauprez’s distinct loyalty to the Republican Party will turn away many voters. Colorado is an Independent state and his record does not reflect the needs of people in the state,” said Pat Waak, Chair of the Colorado Democratic Party.
The Democratic Party will work with all potential candidates during the upcoming elections. Democrats are confident that their candidates will better represent the people of Colorado. |
