Colorado Democratic Leadership Plans for 2006 Elections
CAŅON CITY - Leaders of the Colorado Democratic Party met here this past weekend to focus attention on planning for the 2006 election cycle. The retreat, held Saturday and Sunday at an office in Caņon City, included the officers and DNC members of the state Democratic Party. The weekend included the participants attending the grand opening of the local county party headquarters.
"We believe this weekend provides a good contrast in the statuses of both of Colorado's major parties," said Pat Waak, Chair of the Colorado Democratic Party. "While Republicans were meeting at a resort in Keystone to simply try to get on the same page, Democrats are already on the same page and putting together concrete plans for victory in 2006."
Colorado Republicans were reportedly meeting at the same time in Keystone to attempt to heal a split among the party activists following a division of the party on Referenda C and D. National GOP Chair Ken Mehlman was called into Colorado to help lead the efforts to deal with the split party in the state.
Waak continued, "While the Republicans continue to try to paper over their real differences in this state, Democrats will continue to be united in working to help Coloradans deal with the issues that matter to them: issues like improving access to health care, improving our children's education, and preserving our natural environment in Colorado."
The Colorado Democratic Party is the statewide organization committed to promoting progressive ideals and Democratic candidates at all levels of government. Individuals wishing to volunteer are welcome to call the Party headquarters at 303-623-4762 or visit our website at www.coloradodems.org
