Denver, Colorado - Colorado Democrats noted that Rep. Tom Tancredo (CO-6) has a primary opponent. The announcement of Juan Botero for the Republican nomination demonstrates a disagreement in the Republican Party on policy issues.

"Clearly, Tom Tancredo is out of step with President Bush and his party on many issues. It is highly unusual for an incumbent Republican to have a primary opponent and this improves the prospects for a challenger victory in November," said Pat Waak, Chair of the Colorado Democratic Party.
