Colorado Democratic Party Chair Announces New Political Director |

Denver, Colorado - At the Colorado Democrats State Executive Committee meeting
on Saturday, Chair, Pat Waak, announced that William (Bill) Compton will become
the new political director of the party on April 17, 2006.
"We are very excited that Billy Compton will be joining us," said
Pat Waak. "He brings a wealth of knowledge to the Colorado Democratic Party
on elections law and process. Bill is an outstanding addition to our team."
Bill Compton recently announced that he will be leaving his position as Director
of Elections for the State of Colorado. He has been in the Office of the Secretary
of State since 2000 and also served in the same position from 1997 to 1998.
In the intervening time, he was the Executive Director of the Denver Election
Commission from 1999 to 2000. He also has served as the Chief Deputy Clerk and
Recorder in Jefferson County, Colorado.
Bill has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Auburn University,
a Masters in Environmental Law and Policy and a J.D. from Vermont Law School.
