Colorado Democratic Party Pays Tribute to Veterans PDF Print E-mail

Denver, Colorado - On this Memorial Day weekend, communities around the state of Colorado will be honoring Colorado Veterans. Democratic candidates and elected officials are participating in parades, picnics and house parties as party of a statewide tribute to active and retired men and women who have served their country in the armed services.

"Colorado has 427,956 veterans in the state. They are our husbands and wives, fathers and mothers, brothers and sisters, and friends and neighbors. We honor their service to our country," said Pat Waak, Colorado Democratic Party Chair. "We also honor the 2,860 Coloradans currently deployed in the services.

"We call upon President Bush and our elected officials to remember the needs of veterans for health care and other benefits as part of this weekend of remembrance. As the daughter, sister and wife of veterans, I ask the citizens of Colorado to become more active in supporting our current troops and to not let any of our veterans be forgotten."
