CDP Chair Pat Waak: "Beauprez should be ashamed for questioning judgement of Colorado voters, community groups and business leaders"

DENVER - Colorado Democratic Party Chairwoman Pat Waak issued the following statement today regarding Ballot Initiative 88's failure to get on the November ballot.

"Bob Beauprez bragged about being the first in line to support Ballot Initiative 88. Today we see that Ballot Initiative 88 is an embarrassing failure that was shunned by community leaders and business interests. Beauprez should be ashamed of himself for supporting something so universally unpopular and flawed. Both Democrats and Republicans criticized this pathetic attempt to usurp the voters' decision to approve of Referendum C and support our state's educational, healthcare and transportation needs. In a May 30th Denver Post article, the State Treasurer's office, currently held by a Republican, railed against Ballot Initiative 88 calling it ‘problematic'. Colorado deserves real leadership, not a right-wing reactionary who panders to a small radical band of zealots."
