Republican Extremists flock to Colorado Springs to show Coloradans their true colors.

DENVER- Colorado Democratic Party Chairwoman Pat Waak issued the following statement today regarding the "Republican Unity" press event in Colorado Springs:

"Today Coloradans got their first good look at the Republican Party ticket for 2006. From top to bottom this is a group that does not stand with Coloradans, their families or businesses.

Starting with their gubernatorial candidate – a member of the most ineffective Congress in our nation's history. As a member of the 105th Congress Bob Beauprez has never met a budget deficit he didn't like. That may be how the Republican-led Congress likes to operate, but Colorado deserves common-sense leadership – not bloated budgets and ineffective bureaucracies. From supporting the failed Ballot Initiative 88 to his frequent flip-flopping on issues, Beauprez has proven he can't be trusted with the decisions that affect Colorado families or businesses.

As for the rest of their ticket, there's a 5th Congressional candidate who was lambasted by fellow Colorado Minority Senate colleagues, a Treasury candidate who scored a state job thanks to his political connections, and they're led by a State Party Chair who publicly lashed out at his own Republican Governor for recent racist comments.

It's a good thing they're huddling together – because they're the only friends they have these days."
