Beauprez searches high and low before settling on Anti-Referendum C pick for Lt. Gov.

DENVER – Colorado Democratic Party Chair Pat Waak issued the following statement on the announcement of Janet Rowland as the Republican Party’s candidate for Lt. Governor.

“Today Bob Beauprez introduced Colorado to his running mate – and to no one’s surprise she was also a loud voice against Referendum C.

Janet Rowland claims she is driven by ‘a passion for family’ but her record indicates otherwise. In Mesa County, Rowland was active in speaking out against the voter-approved measure. If Rowland really wanted to stand up for families, she would understand that Colorado families benefit from our state’s investment in healthcare, transportation and education. From improved access to community health care to increased tuition assistance for Colorado college students, our state’s families are facing a brighter future thanks to Referendum C.

Bob Beauprez seems more intent on finding someone who agrees with him than on watching out for Colorado families. I’ll give him credit for this – given how many Colorado Republicans support Referendum C, he had to go out of his way to find one who didn’t.”

They claim to stand up for Colorado families. The truth is when Colorado families needed leadership, Beauprez and Rowland turned their back on them.”
