Waak: "Beauprez's choice for Lt. Gov demonstrates extremism, mean-spiritedness AND intolerance."

DENVER – Colorado Democratic Party Chair Pat Waak issued the following statement regarding the Republican candidate for Lt. Governor Janet Rowland's March 2006 televised comments comparing homosexuality to bestiality.

"Coloradans should not be surprised to see this type of mean-spirited extremism displayed by a high-profile Republican candidate. This is a textbook tactic of the right-wing propaganda machine. Unfortunately, this is not the first time we've seen this behavior. Janet Rowland seems to have more in common with Republican legislator Jim Welker than she does with the average Coloradan.

Across our great state, all communities deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. It is not acceptable to exploit hate for political gain. Coloradans know better."
