With the announcement today by the Democratic National Committee that it will
hold its 2008 Presidential Convention in Denver, Colorado, Colorado State Party
chair, Pat Waak, released the following statement:
"We are excited at the news that Democrats nationwide will be coming to
Denver for the 2008 Convention. Democrats in Colorado, and in the west, have
worked hard to demonstrate that this is the new frontier for the Democratic
party in America.
"The state party is looking forward to electing a new Democratic senator
to join Sen. Ken Salazar and to carrying the state of Colorado for the 2008
Democratic presidential nominee. We have worked hard to reach voters across
the state. The selection of Denver adds to the momentum as we build a Colorado
that is dedicated to serving all citizens.
"The Colorado Democratic Party especially wants to thank Elbra Wedgeworth
for her leadership in chairing the convention committee. We look forward to
working with the DNC where appropriate to make the 2008 convention one of the
most successful ever."
