Denver, Colorado - On Saturday, March 3, 2007, the Colorado Democratic Party State Central Committee elected its 2007-2009 officers. Pat Waak, Chair, was re-elected to lead the party. Dan Slater, first vice chair; Margaret Atencio, second vice chair; Carolyn Boller, secretary; and Mark Ferrandino, treasurer were all re-elected for additional two-year terms.
"Saturday was a time for Democrats to enjoy themselves, but also a time to reaffirm that we have more work to do," said Waak. "We've worked hard in the past two years to reach out to communities all across Colorado, and the new party leaders will continue to do that."
"It is a new day in Colorado. And so we say to the people of Colorado - see how we govern. We're going to make you proud," said Waak in her speech before the State Central Committee.
That phrase became the theme for the day, with banners hanging on each side of the podium at the Jefferson-Jackson Day dinner. Nearly 2,000 people sold out the annual dinner, where they watched awards given, heard from elected officials and participated in a live auction.
