Denver, Colorado - Colorado Democratic Party Chair Pat Waak today issued the following statement commending Democrats in the U.S. Senate for keeping their promise to fight for a new direction in Iraq:

"Today Democrats kept their promise to the American people. They passed a responsible plan that focuses on changing course in Iraq, ensures our troops have the resources they need and deserve while getting them out of the civil war in Iraq and effectively fighting the war on terror. For the first time since this war began, the American people have a Congress that is willing to put partisanship aside and hold the President accountable for his failed strategy in Iraq. We are united in telling the President that more of the same just isn't good enough for our brave men and women in uniform. The time has come for President Bush and Republicans like Senator Wayne Allard to join us in forging a new direction in Iraq."
