DNCC Official, Colorado Democratic Party Chair to Offer Information on Delegate
Process and Volunteer Opportunities for Steamboat Springs and surrounding areas
DENVER - In keeping with the mission of creating a regional Convention for
the Rocky Mountain West, Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) Deputy
CEO for Intergovernmental Affairs, Sky Gallegos, will join Colorado Democratic
Party Chair Pat Waak to conduct a Convention Seminar on Saturday, November 17
at 11:30 a.m. at Olympian Hall, 845 Howelson, Steamboat Springs. The pair will
discuss opportunities for involvement in the 2008 Democratic National Convention,
including running for delegate and volunteering opportunities.
"Our mandate is clear: to make the 2008 Democratic National Convention
the most inclusive, accessible and engaging in our Party's history," said
Gallegos. "Pat and I aim to make this a reality by traveling the state
and hearing what folks have to say. We want to make sure everyone has an opportunity
to get involved in the Convention experience."
The Neighboring communities in Garfield, Grand, Jackson, Moffat, and Rio Blanco
Counties are also urged to attend the seminar in Steamboat Springs.
"The Colorado Democratic Party wants to share this rare experience with
as many Coloradans as possible and these seminars allow us to reach out and
invite people to participate in this historical event," said Pat Waak.
Each seminar will begin with a brief presentation on the 2008 Democratic National
Convention followed by a question and answer period. Attendees will also have
the opportunity to participate in caucus and Neighbor-to-Neighbor training workshops.
Neighbor-to-Neighbor is part of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) State
partnership program to recruit Democratic activists throughout the state.
Held from August 25-28, 2008, the Convention is expected to pump an estimated
$160 million into the Colorado economy and draw approximately 35,000 visitors
to the region.
Editor's Note. The deadline to participate in the Party and "Caucus"
process is December 5, 2007. To register your party affiliation, contact your
local County Clerk and Recorders office. Information regarding the delegate
