On the eve of a presidential visit Bob Schaffer refuses to discuss the
issues
Denver, CO – The Colorado Democratic Party called on Bob Schaffer to
talk about the issues facing the nation following the State of the Union address
by President Bush. “We know where the President stands, but Coloradans
want to know where Bob stands on the issues said Pat Waak, Chair, Colorado Democratic
Party, “does he or does he not support the presidents failed policies?
“When the President visits this Thursday Bob Schaffer will have been
on ‘Mute’ for 266 days since he became a candidate for the U.S.
Senate,” said Waak. “It’s time for Bob to tell us who’s
supporting his candidacy for the U.S. Senate despite the fact that he has not
taken a stance on one single issue.”
President Bush is scheduled to hold a fundraiser for Bob Schaffer on Thursday
January 31 at an exclusive Cherry Hills home.
President Bush outlined his plans for his last year in office at last night’s
annual State of the Union address. “ Schaffer, despite calls from major
newspapers and the people of Colorado has refused to discuss healthcare, energy
policy, the war in Iraq or any other issues,” said Waak, ”Bob remains
with his mute button on.
“It appears that the Colorado Republican leaders are keeping Bob muted
to prevent him from assailing his extreme views that don’t sit well with
the Colorado electorate,” said Waak.
Apparently Colorado Republican leader Dick Wadhams turned the mute button on
Schaffer to prevent him from making the same gaff that cost incumbent Virginia
Senator George Allen his Senate seat, perhaps the majority in the U.S. Senate,
and his much talked about presidential bid. “Wadhams also ran that campaign
and apparently is learning from his mistakes,” said Waak.
