Denver, Colorado - The Colorado State Democratic announced today that
U.S. Rep. Mark Udall has met the threshold for candidacy for the
Colorado U.S. Senate seat.
After tabulating the statewide votes from the various assemblies, Rep.
Udall exceeded the threshold for support which qualified him to be on
the ballot. No other candidate or uncommitted delegates had sufficient
support.
"Mark Udall's strong state-wide support, his strength as a candidate -
a man who has demonstrated deep and authentic connection to Colorado -
makes him the best voice for Colorado," Colorado Democratic Party
Chair, Pat Waak.
"We have been able to elect people with authenticity who listen to the
voters and look for solutions to Colorado challenges. Mark Udall is a
true public servant who can reach across party lines," said Waak.
Udall's official nomination will take place at the Colorado Democratic Party State Convention on May 17, 2008.
