After Playing Politics with Testing Funding and Refusing to Hold Trump Accountable for Testing Failures, Gardner Now Insists Testing Is “Key”
Gardner and Senate Republicans “Resisted” Testing Funding In Latest COVID Relief Bill
Denver, CO – While “the U.S. was not only late getting started but is still way behind” in COVID-19 testing and reports continue to pour in on Trump’s “testing fumbles” and waste of “precious time,” Senator Cory Gardner has failed to hold the Trump administration accountable for their blunders in Washington but now claims that testing is “key” in a Colorado op-ed. Gardner’s about-face comes a month after he and Senate Republicans “resisted” including testing funding in the recent COVID-19 relief package, which Gardner is now touting and taking credit for.
No Comment Cory’s silence on Trump’s testing failures should come as no surprise as he has refused to weigh in on Trump’s overall coronavirus response, saying, “I think it’s important to not look and try to provide some kind of a grade.”
Colorado Democratic Party Spokesperson Eli Rosen:
“Senator Cory Gardner’s hypocrisy here could not be more obvious: he resists testing funding in Washington to be Trump and McConnell’s loyal ally, but comes back to Colorado and claims testing is ‘key’ to appease voters. Coloradans deserve a Senator who will stand up for us, not one who says one thing to Coloradans and does another in Washington.”
