Colorado Assemblies and Conventions

WHAT TO KNOW

What are the Assemblies and Conventions?

After caucuses there are a series of assemblies (to nominate candidates) and conventions (to elect national delegates and presidential electors). Every registered Democrat can attend and vote in the caucuses on Saturday, March 7, 2020, 2:00 pm MST, but only elected delegates can vote at these subsequent assemblies & conventions.

Single-County Assemblies & Conventions

March 17 – April 1, 2020

All 64 counties will be holding a county assembly & convention. People elected as delegates at caucus to county will be able to vote on which candidates are nominated to the Democratic primary ballot for county seats, and state house and senate seats that are contained entirely within one county.

Here, you will elect delegates to: (1) multi-county judicial districts (DAs races); (2) multi-county house and senate districts, if any; (3) congressional district assembly and convention; and to (4) state assembly and convention. Counties will also elect (or appoint, depending on local rules) members to the state credentials committee, the state platform committee, and the state permanent organization committee.

Every Colorado House District, Senate District and Judicial District that includes more than one county will meet after county assemblies to nominate candidates to the June 30, 2020 Democratic Primary ballot. A candidate needs 30% of the votes of Delegates present to be placed on the Democratic Primary ballot (unless petitioning on the ballot instead.)
