Cory Gardner Is Still “Mitch McConnell’s Right Hand Man” & With Trump “100%”
McConnell Said States Should Go Bankrupt, Gardner Refuses to Stand Up to the Majority Leader
Trump’s Failed Response Worsened Public Health & Economic Crisis but Gardner “Not Willingly Offering Criticism”
Denver, CO – Amid a tough reelection, Senator Cory Gardner is searching for a stunt to fool Coloradans into thinking he’s the independent voice he once promised to be, but Gardner’s actions paint a different picture. Gardner is still “Mitch McConnell’s right-hand man” who stands with the Trump administration “100%…there was no waver” at Colorado’s expense. Gardner’s steadfast allegiance to his party bosses has included voting with McConnell 95 percent of the time, running McConnell’s Senate Republican campaign arm, and remaining silent when McConnell said states should be able to go bankrupt instead of passing additional aid for local governments.
Just this week, more than a dozen state legislators and a handful of Colorado organizations penned a letter to Gardner to “break up” with McConnell and be the independent voice he pledged to be — but as usual, Gardner refused to comment.
Colorado Democratic Party spokesperson Eli Rosen:
“While Senator Gardner pulls political stunts to try and save face come election time, Colorado voters aren’t fooled. Gardner won’t stand up to his party — instead, he works in tandem with Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump to rip health care from hundreds of thousands of Coloradans, sell out our public lands, and push rigid anti-choice policies.”
