
STATE PARTY COMMITTEES
State Central Committee (SCC)
The State Central Committee is the governing body of the Colorado Democratic Party.
It’s composed of members from across the state:
All county chairs and first vice-chairs
The chairs and first vice-chairs from each Congressional district organization
Bonus members from larger counties
State party officers (elected at the state party reorg)
DNC members from Colorado (elected to four-year terms in presidential years)
State-level elected Democrats (governor, US senators and reps, state reps and senators, etc.)
Additional appointees by the state party chair to ensure that the state central committee maintains gender equity
The SCC’s responsibilities include:
Meeting at least once per year, called by the CDP chair
Approval of the delegate selection plan for local and state assemblies and conventions
Approval of updates to state party bylaws and policies
Voting on endorsements of ballot initiatives
Review of any controversy committees (disciplinary actions) created to solve intra-party disputes
State Executive Committee (SEC)
The State Executive Committee is a subcommittee of the State Central Committee
Its members include:
CDP officers
DNC members
The chair and first vice-chair of each Congressional district
The chair, first vice-chair, and bonus members from larger counties; smaller counties choose a single regional member
A member from each SCC initiative and charter organization
A small number of at-large voting members
The SEC’s responsibilities include:
Advising and assisting the Chair as necessary
Coordinating activities between state and county organizations
Approving the CDP budget each December, prior to the new fiscal year
