Ganahl Lies About Being For “All Colorado”
Campaigns with Anti-LGBTQ Extremist, Repeats Conspiracies
GOP gubernatorial nominee Heidi Ganahl added to her long list of extremist allies when she campaigned last week with Matt Walsh, an anti-LGBTQ ideologue. The Colorado Times Recorder reported Friday that Ganahl posed with extremist Walsh at a Colorado Christian University fundraiser.
Walsh is best known for opposing gay marriage and urging supporters to target hospitals that provide care for transgender individuals.
The same day Ganahl campaigned with Walsh, he encouraged all Republican candidates to make his anti-LGBTQ agenda a major theme of their campaigns, claiming it would be a “winning political issue” for them. He didn’t need to tell Heidi Ganahl, whose campaign has already been criticized for sending transphobic fundraising emails to supporters.
Ganahl later went on right-wing talk radio and repeated a debunked anti-LGBTQ conspiracy theory that kids are widely “identifying as cats” in Colorado schools–showing the influence that conspiracies and extremists have on her and her campaign.
Ganahl also recently joined a fundraiser to oppose transgender individuals’ participation in sports, where she told a false story about intervening in a housing situation for a cisgender student at CU.
“Heidi Ganahl is all too happy to parrot extremists’ conspiracies because that’s who she is. That’s what we can expect from a Ganahl Administration: a cabinet full of conspiracists and far-right radicals.” –Colorado Democratic Party spokesperson Kailee Stiles
