Votebuilder, also known as VAN

What is VAN?

Votebuilder (previously the Voter Action Network hence, its enduring short name VAN) is the DNC’s database provided to states, county parties, and candidates for voter outreach and volunteer management. CDP administers VAN for all our county & candidate committees, and their users.

Do I need VAN?

If you are a Democrat running for office, VAN is an essential tool for identifying the voters you want to contact and providing some key tools to do so. VAN committees are priced relative to district size, and are quite affordable for smaller local races.

If you are volunteering with a County Party, and you are interested in voter file data, let them know and they can get you set up. If you are having problems logging in, or have a general VAN question, click here.

What if I need more help?

VAN Office Hours are currently held on Friday afternoons and other options may be added. These are drop-in Q&A sessions, not full trainings, to provide the option for 1:1 help to answer your questions. Find VAN Office Hours on our event Calendar.
