ROUNDUP: Coloradans Speak Out Against McConnell’s “Perfect Candidate” Joe O’Dea

Coloradans across the state are speaking out against GOP Senate candidate Joe O’Dea arguing that he can’t be trusted on abortion and would restrict abortion rights. They also point out that O’Dea is out of step with the majority of Coloradans because of his far-right position on guns and his closeness to Mitch McConnell.

What Coloradans are saying about O’Dea:

  • “O’Dea has said that he would limit abortion rights, oppose gun safety laws, cut social security and — worst of all — he would confirm future U.S. Supreme Court justices like the three ultra-conservative justices former President Donald Trump put on the U.S. Supreme Court. We can’t let Colorado contribute to a conservative future.” – Jim Alexander, Summit Daily

  • “Joe O’Dea is the Republican Senate candidate who said that ‘we don’t need more laws’ when it comes to gun safety, and he’s backed by the Colorado NRA. If we want to continue to build on the progress we’ve made, then we can’t let Joe O’Dea win. O’Dea would be a rubber stamp for the gun lobby and would do absolutely nothing if we see another senseless tragedy.” – Michele Norton, Loveland Reporter-Herald

  • “Joe presents a nuanced opinion of women’s healthcare. Others trust women to know what’s best for them, under their individual circumstances. What would Joe do? We don’t know.” – Diana Greer, Boulder Daily Camera

  • “In Colorado, Senator Michael Bennet has consistently supported women’s right to choose, while his opponent, Joe O’Dea, has pushed for restrictions.” – Adele Riffe, Grand Junction Daily Sentinel

  • “We will be inundated with misinformation in the coming months, so every time you hear the phrase ‘Moderate Joe O’Dea’ just smile as though you heard a good joke.” – Norm Davey, Summit Daily

  • “McConnell called O’Dea the perfect candidate, because O’Dea opposes the Reproductive Health Equity Act that Gov. Jared Polis signed. O’Dea opposes common sense gun policy and the right for women to choose, and he supports cutting taxes on corporations and the wealthiest Coloradans.” – Ron Guillot, Colorado Newsline
