April 13, 2024

DENVER– Today, delegates to the Colorado Democratic Party State Assembly delegates designated Charles Johnson and Elliott Hood onto the June primary ballot.

Elliott Hood: 56%

Charles “CJ” Johnson: 44%

“As a CU alum — Go Buffs! — I couldn’t be more impressed by the quality of our candidates and I’m so proud of the positive campaigns they have run,” said Shad Murib, Chair, Colorado Democratic Party. “Students deserve affordable access to a great education from one of the best and most beautiful colleges Colorado has to offer. CJ and Elliott will both ensure that CU is well-governed, inclusive, and a shining example of how to prepare college graduates for a great career and life while leading the nation in important research. We wish them luck in their campaigns.”

“We are excited to be on the primary ballot and grateful to have earned the support of a majority of delegates at the state assembly. I look forward to continuing to run a positive campaign alongside my friend and primary opponent, Charles Johnson, that is focused on building a more affordable, equitable, and sustainable CU System. This has been a fun journey, and I’m eager to engage with Colorado voters ahead of the June 25 primary election.” said Elliott Hood, CU Regent At Large candidate.

"I am grateful to everyone who participated in the Assembly process and happy to be on the ballot. As a CU Regent candidate, I am dedicated to tackling financial challenges, fostering diversity, prioritizing mental health services, and leading in climate change research. My goal is to make dreams a reality for families in Colorado, ensuring access to the American Dream for all." said Charles Johnson, CU Regent at Large candidate.
