Colorado Republicans say “No” to COVID relief

Denver, CO - Earlier today, the House passed a resolution that would allow Congress to move forward on COVID relief for hardworking families.

The proposed American Rescue Plan not only includes a number of popular policies that would immediately help families like stimulus checks, child care assistance, Senator Michael Bennet’s plan to reduce child poverty, and support for small businesses among others, but the plan is supported by a majority of Americans.

Despite these realities, every single House Republican, including Lauren Boebert, Ken Buck, and Doug Lamborn turned their backs on their constituents, voting “No” on COVID relief.

David Pourshoushtari, communications director for the Colorado Democratic Party, released the following statement:

“Someone might want to ask Lauren Boebert, Ken Buck, and Doug Lamborn what exactly they do around here other than collect taxpayer-funded paychecks. Regular people in Colorado towns like Rifle, Windsor, and Colorado Springs are struggling and calling for relief now. While Democrats are wasting no time to get COVID relief delivered to the people, Boebert, Buck, and Lamborn have shown zero interest in actually fighting for the lives of their constituents or strengthening the American economy and have proposed zero alternatives to the American Rescue Plan.

“Lauren Boebert, Ken Buck, and Doug Lamborn could join their Congressional colleagues and actually fight to pass badly needed COVID relief for their constituents. Instead, they have turned their backs on the people in their own districts.”
