ICYMI: While Mitch and Donald sit on their hands, Colorado Dems are taking Action on COVID Relief
In another example of why Washington, D.C. should take its cues from Colorado, we have seen our Democratic state legislators work tirelessly over the past 48 hours to pass COVID-19 relief for Colorado families. The special session was called by Democratic Governor, Jared Polis since D.C. has failed to deliver.
Here’s quick recap of some of the bipartisan bills moving along during the special session:
- Boosting Broadband Access for Rural Colorado Students (HB20B-1001)
- Emergency Childcare Relief (HB20B-1002)
- Food Pantry Assistance (HB20B-1003)
- Small Retail Business Support (HB20B-1004)
- Direct Aid to Small Businesses (SB20B-001)
- Direct Housing Aid for Coloradans (SB20B-002)
- Direct Utility Aid for Coloradans (SB20B-003)
- Emergency Fund to support Fighting COVID-19 (SB20B-004)
Morgan Carroll, Chair of the Colorado Democratic Party:
“Coloradans should be proud, because this is how government is supposed to work. While Mitch McConnell has refused to budge on the COVID relief bills that U.S. House Democrats sent him months ago, and while Donald Trump continues to live in fantasyland and push unfounded conspiracies, Democrats in the state legislature have worked at lightning speed to pass much-needed relief for families, small businesses, and students.”
