SHOT/CHASER: Gardner’s GOP Group Lies About Pulling “Horrifying” Ad As Ad Continues To Run

SHOT: “The National Republican Senatorial Committee has stopped running its controversial ad attacking former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper,” reported the Colorado Sun’s Unaffiliated newsletter last Thursday.

CHASER: "NRSC keeps it up," per 9News’ Marshall Zelinger yesterday.

Despite claiming that they stopped running the ad last week, the NRSC -- which Senator Cory Gardner formerly ran -- lied to Coloradans and has continued to run the “misleading” and “horrifying” ad, even ignoring pleas from survivor Erin Martinez to pull it from the air. Fact-checkers have said the ad “smell[ed] like sh**,” as then-Governor Hickenlooper took swift action ordering inspections of active and abandoned flowlines and the company responsible was ultimately fined $18.25 million.

Gardner waited until hundreds of thousands of dollars had been spent on the ad before even returning calls from Martinez, who said Gardner is “underestimating his power to have the ad taken down.”

Gardner already failed to forcefully call for the ad to come down, and now his Washington Republican allies are lying about it continuing to air. Coloradans already don’t trust them -- but how much lower will they go?
