Update from CDP on State Assembly/Convention and the 2020 Obama Dinner

As Colorado continues to grapple with an unprecedented situation in the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Colorado Democratic Party is making necessary adaptations to keep everyone safe, while also safeguarding our institutions of democracy. With the bipartisan passage of HB20-1359 this morning by the state legislature, the state and county parties (pending Governor Polis’ signature) have the ability to conduct assemblies and conventions remotely.

Given this change in Colorado law, to ensure the safety and health of Coloradans, the Colorado Democratic Party will be converting its statewide assembly and convention to an e-meeting.

Additionally, to be on the safe side , the Colorado Democratic Party will be postponing its 3rd Annual Obama Dinner Fundraising Gala to a date a little later this year when it is safer to do so. This is our largest fundraiser of the year to pay for our Win Plan for the 2020 Election. Your table and ticket purchase will transfer. If you are not able to make the new date, you will have the option to refund or donate it at that time.

“These aren’t decisions any of us thought we would have to make when we started 2020, but we believe these are the best decisions to help protect public health and safety, while ensuring the wheels of democracy can continue to fairly move forward. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and make decisions informed by science and professional guidance to protect the public.”
