As SCOTUS Hears Mifepristone Case, Colorado Democrats Slams Trump’s Efforts to Ban Abortion Nationwide

As the Supreme Court prepares to hear arguments in a case that could ban medication abortion across the country and severely limit the access to critical reproductive care for millions of women, Colorado Democratic Party Chair Shad Murib released the following statement:

DENVER - Today, the Colorado Democratic Party released the following statement highlighting what’s at stake for health care this November on the 14th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act:  

“Today's Supreme Court hearing is a stark reminder that Donald Trump and his MAGA allies are using every avenue possible to ban abortion nationwide and devastate Colorado women’s reproductive freedom. This case could strip away access to medication abortion everywhere in this country, including Colorado, which would be the biggest step toward their extreme goal since Trump overturned Roe v. Wade. Coloradans know that reproductive rights are on the ballot in November, and the only way to protect Colorado women’s freedoms is to send President Biden and Vice President Harris back to the White House.”

While Trump and MAGA Republicans are working to ban abortion access nationwide, President Biden and Vice President Harris will protect a woman’s right to choose:

• Calling on Congress to codify the protections of Roe into law, restoring rights women relied on for nearly 50 years.
  
  

• Standing by the FDA’s evidence-based approval of mifepristone — and the Biden-Harris administration will continue to defend the FDA’s independent, expert authority to review, approve, and regulate a wide range of prescription drugs.

• Supporting a woman’s right to travel for medical care.
