CDP outraises Colorado GOP by 221%

DENVER - The Colorado Democratic Party (CDP) continues the 2024 election cycle with strength, announcing $142,141.77 raised in February, 2024, compared to the Colorado GOP’s $64,349.90. The CDP outraised the Colorado GOP by $77,791.97.

In February, the CDP received contributions from a diverse array of 726 donors, with 93% of them proudly hailing from Colorado. This groundswell of grassroots support underscores the deep connections and trust that the Democratic Party has cultivated within our communities across the state.

With these funds, the CDP remains steadfast in its commitment to investing in vital resources, bolstering key staff, and expanding critical programs throughout Colorado. Our focus on enhancing our organizing apparatus in rural areas ensures that every voice in Colorado is heard and represented.

In stark contrast, the Colorado GOP's fundraising efforts fell far short. The GOP’s spending habits continue to raise eyebrows, with a notable $12,000 allocated to Chair Dave Williams’ consulting firm, Fox Group, and $10,000 to Liberty Service Corp, a far-right wing consulting firm. Spending on these two consulting firms amounts to 35% of the Colorado GOP’s total expenditures, an insulting and bewildering use of funds in this critical election year.

According to the FEC, the Colorado GOP also spent $9,866.23 on a “fold out mailer” as a “response to attack” – this is likely the mailer that was used to attack The Gazette and Dave Williams’ opponents in the CD5 Republican primary, a ridiculous and unethical use of Party resources.

This trend of irresponsible spending by the Colorado GOP is nothing new, as evidenced by their squandering of funds on legal fees and failed attempts to disenfranchise voters in 2023. Their reliance on external bailouts and pay-to-play tactics highlights the party's dire financial situation and lack of grassroots support.

"The Colorado GOP's continued struggles with fundraising and reckless spending underscore their dwindling relevance in Colorado politics," said CDP Chair Shad Murib. "While the GOP relies on divisive tactics and racking up strangely high bills at Italian restaurants, Colorado Democrats remain focused on empowering our communities and building a brighter future for everyone in our state no matter their party. I’m proud of our grassroots support, and we’re excited to be building lasting infrastructure across the state.”
