Gardner Silent at First COVID Hearing Back in Congress, Skips Out Early Instead of Standing Up for Coloradans
Denver, CO - Not only is Senator Cory Gardner failing to hold the Trump administration accountable for their blundering response to COVID-19, but he’s also failing to do his job back in Washington. When Gardner’s Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee convened for a hearing yesterday to discuss the impacts of COVID-19 on aviation, Gardner remained silent instead of speaking up for Colorado’s struggling transportation and tourism workers before ducking out of the hearing early. Meanwhile, traffic at Denver International Airport, a major economic driver for the state, is down 95 percent compared to this time last year.
Colorado Democratic Party Chair Morgan Carroll:
“Representing your constituents starts with showing up, but with Colorado’s workers and tourism economy in peril, Senator Gardner didn’t even bother to participate in yesterday’s hearing. If Senator Gardner is going to dodge his responsibilities while Colorado is facing an unprecedented public health and economic crisis, Coloradans have yet another reason to ditch him in November.”
