Gardner Bragged About Working With White House To Secure Tests After Channel 7 Investigation Found That “Promises From the White House… Have Not Been Kept”

A new report reveals that Senator Cory Gardner bragged to Republican activists that he worked with the White House to secure 5,000 coronavirus tests for Greeley’s JBS meatpacking plant after a Channel 7 investigation found that “promises from the White House and JBS management to provide testing for employees... have not been kept.” But instead of holding the White House accountable for its broken promises and standing up for Colorado’s meatpacking workers, Gardner once again took credit and crowed about his chummy relationship with the Trump administration.

Earlier in the month, the coronavirus outbreak at the JBS plant in Greeley made national headlines, with the Trump administration promising testing resources for workers and Vice President Pence saying that he had spoken to Gardner about the matter. But Channel 7 reported that “between 40% and 80% of managers/supervisors tested positive on the initial day of testing and those results prompted JBS to end the testing program.”

Gardner has yet to hold the White House accountable for its broken promise to the workers, another Trump failure that No Comment Cory is silent on. Gardner has refused to hold the Trump administration responsible for “wasting precious time,” “failure to quickly scale up testing,” and botched response to the coronavirus pandemic, instead blaming China, the World Health Organization, and even impeachment, for Trump’s belated response. This should come as no surprise as Senate Republicans’ campaign arm, which Gardner used to chair,  proclaimed, “there is no daylight between [Senate Republicans] and President Trump.”
